PolarizedPlus®2: In every pair of Maui Jims you’ll find our patented, color-infused lens technology that wipes out 99.9% of glare, 100% of harmful UV and boosts color via specially designed lens treatments. So your view is clearer, with crisper contrast and amazing brilliance.

Like a second skin
Review by: Umby -
I have a big roundish face and these glasses are ideal, eliminating virtually all peripheral light with their wraparound style, they are perfect when driving or playing sports, and very stylish for any occasion. Lenses are great as in any pair of Maui Jims (got the bronze ones, which work both in sunny and overcast days.) I never take these glasses off as they are so incredibly light, grippy and comfortable, I often forget I wear them even when entering a dark room!
If I do take them off, I never know where to store them. If my wife is around, I ask her to put them in her purse. Otherwise, their hingeless design makes them tough to stuff in a jacket or shirt pocket without squishing the frame or bulking up the pocket, and hanging them from the open collar of a shirt is not safe either, as they are so light they could easily slide off and you would never notice. That's the one and only problem I have with the Big Beach, as I'm afraid I might drop or leave them somewhere one day.
The hingeless design also means you do need two hands to open up the "elastic" temples and wear them (you wrap the temples around your head, really), if you are used to using one hand you are going to hate them and will break the frame eventually. Otherwise they are very sturdy glasses, I have owned similar designs from MJ before (Kaanapali) and never broke one single pair. I love the style so much I have ordered a second pair with neutral gray lenses for real sunny days, can't wear regular hinged sunglasses anymore as I now find them heavy and slippery.(Posted on 11/28/12)

Nice But
Review by: ptonair2002 -
The glasses were really nice. One of only a few i could find that fit just right. Kinda pricey but went for it. Was a little disappointed that after 4 months they started to crack right where the glasses and brace go together. for such a high price this was very disappointing. I did call Maui Jim and i have to send to there office with $10 for them to ship it back to me. Nice that they will fix no questions asked but im out $20 to ship it to them and pay for it back to me. $300 dollar glasses with a defect should have no cost to me. Live and learn

These are the best glasses i have ever or will ever own! i've owned maui jims in the past but the curvature of the lens stop sun more than a strait lens.
Some people have complained about the durability of these glasses... DUH they are rimless flex frame glasses. If you want a pair of glasses that wont crack after a period of time purchase a pair of steel frame maui's. My three brothers and I own several pairs of maui's each this way when one pair breaks we use the other pair while the broken pair are fixed by maui for free minus shipping. $300 is a lot to pay for glasses. however, after wearing these glasses i can not wear anything else. I've had these on and jumped from a moving speed boat forgeting they were on and they stayed put after landing in the water. Amazing light wieght glasses but not for whiney people who complain about a man made product that will break. just expect it.
Buy them. Expect them to break, fix them, keep wearing them and enjoy. The best EVER(Posted on 11/28/12)

maui big beach
Review by: kram -
purchased MJ Big Beach with the HT lens as a prescription and love them like no other sunglasses before. To have the HT color lens with Rx I had to have high index lens, which made them very expensive - $700 with prescription. I wanted the HT for something different. Looked at Tag H's- also quite expensive for much less quality-owned by Louis Vittonn. I have MJ Shoreline and Kahuna which are also awesome, but the HT rule as far as clarity and creating definition. Also have a pair of metal framed Ray Ban-- not even close to MJ's quality.

I really like them
Review by: funsun -
So these are the 4th or 5th pair of MJ's that I've owned. Typically their lenz quality is beyond comparison; they cut glare like a knife. I'm dissapointed in the glare I experience when driving w/ these; my dash is lite-tan, I have to tilt my head a certain way or galare off the dash from the sun becomes pretty annyoing. Recently I wore these on a 2 day hike, when I returned home, I noticed the plastic around the ear pieces were scratched almost like I'd used sand-paper on them. Of course MJ fixed @ no cost, but it was weird...especially since their suppposed to be "salt-water proof". These two experiences are why I'm giving 4 stars. Maui Jims are NOT the most durrable eye-ware. they're designed for light-weight sport wear that you forget your wearing. Having a few technical glitches comes w/ the territory in my experience...Farrari's are in the shop allot more often than my Toyota...but guess what I'd rather be driving ;)

I may as well sell my Oakleys......
Review by: Milhouse -
I love these glasses. They fit like a glove, and look great. I also own Oakley and Costa Del Mar, but these are going to be my "go to" sunglasses for a long time. The wrap around frame makes sure they stay where you put them, I don't have to be concerned with them falling off my face. My first pair of Maui Jim's, but not my last......

Great all round sun glasses
Review by: Hadi -
The best sun glasses I have ever owned, great quality and the best after sales service ever. I would never buy any other sun glasses. I have now converted my wife, she is now looking to buy Maui Jim's after being disappointed with the quality and poor after sales service of her Prada sun glasses.

Perfect fit, you forget you have them on!
Review by: leodlion -
These are so light weight, you'll forget you have them on. The clarity is incredible, and the way it covers your viewing range without giving you a blind spot is outstanding. They are extremely durable, but not indestructible. For those of you who think they ARE, please be realistic. I've had mine for two years, and have had no issues. Then again, I NEVER leave them in my car in the HOT Texas sun. I put them on and take off with both hands, and always, ALWAYS put them up in the pouch and case. Why wouldnt you take care of your 300+ investment? No one but me touches my shades, and I clean them regularly.
Good for fishing you ask? YES! But why would you do that with these, if Walmart has polarized shades for 5.00?? Maui Jims are awesome, and they make you look awesome!!! Fishes don't care how you look! (j/k). I dont know about your fishing equipment, but mine all smells fishy, and there's hooks everywhere, why risk getting them damaged?
In my opinion, however, best use is during the day in ANY activity (even fishing), as long as you can have the case in arms reach, to tuck them in. By far best shades I've ever had. I was a long time RayBan fan, until SunglassHut reccomended I take a look at Maui Jims. I agree, Maui Jim, best EVER!!!(Posted on 11/28/12)

Perfect
Review by: kisertn -
I have many pair of Maui Jim's. This pair was purchased specifically for cycling. I am a road race cyclist and was unhappy with my Oakleys (I require prescription glasses and the quality of the lenses I received in my Oakley's was poor compared to my other Maui Jim's). So, I looked for a pair of Maui Jim's that would fit the bill (tight fitting, not prone to slippage when sweating, and full eye coverage - but yet room for air flow to prevent fogging while cycling). I settled on the Big Beach in 2010 and have been *completely* satisfied. Must be noted that my usage is limited to cycling, and I cycle about 3-7 times a week. This means that I take them on and off somewhere between 5 and 14 times a week. I mention this as some have called out durability as a concern. I have had no issues whatsoever and have been completely sold on these glasses. I have the bronze lenses. Liked them so much after 18 months that I just placed an order fora second pair this morning.
Only comment, and not a negative for me, but due to the way these go on and off (with the wire-type fame-thingy that wraps around your head/ears) they are not easy to take on and off while cycling. As I am near-sited and like wearign the bronze whether gray andclouded or bright and sunny, I have no problem with this. But, unlike my Oaley's, I could not simply take one hand and take off these glasses and put them back on with one hand. I need both hands to wrap them around my ears, which wuld make taking them on and off while cycling more challenging than my Oakley's. For me, I put them on, and don't take them off until I am done.
I love these and highly recommend them, as I do all my Maui Jim sunglasses.(Posted on 11/28/12)
