Neutral Grey: Perfect for especially bright, direct sunlight. Offers rich color and contrast along with the highest available light production, unlike ordinary grey lenses that flatten light evenly across the spectrum.
HCL® Bronze: For everyday variable conditions, from full sun to overcast. Provides excellent contrast. Great if you love a warm, subtle bronze tint.
Maui HT™: High-Transmission for times when most lenses would be too dark — sharper contrast and more vibrant color for early morning, late afternoon and foggy days. Heightens contrast and depth of field so that low light is perceived with new vibrancy.
PolarizedPlus®2: In every pair of Maui Jims you’ll find our patented, color-infused lens technology that wipes out 99.9% of glare, 100% of harmful UV and boosts color via specially designed lens treatments. So your view is clearer, with crisper contrast and amazing brilliance.
Polycarbonate: When durability and protection against shattering are the priority, choose a lens that stands up to your most intense activities. Scratch- and impact-resistant. Injection molded for crisp optics. With patented lens treatments that infuse your view with vivid color. Your lightest choice for long days in the sun.
CLEARSHELL® Scratch Coating: A proprietary, silicone-based hard coat that protects your lenses. Glass is naturally scratch-resistant but Maui Evolution and polycarbonate lenses perform better longer with the added durability of our optically correct Clearshell. Applied to front and back of the lens.

Not Bad, Not Great
Review by: Shadbell -
When I first got these (as a gift), they were spectacular!! But over time, I found the lenses scratch really easy and the nose pieces will come loose and fall off.
I believe these lenses are plastic...not a bad thing....but glass lenses are a little more resistant to scratching.
Also, even though the frames will say Maui Jim Sport...I would only recommend these for non-movement type sports; because they will come loose from your head on any sudden movements.
Am looking at either the Akamai, Peahi or Longboard for my next pair. MJ's are great glasses and would definitely recommend to at least check them out.(Posted on 11/28/12)

Oakley.......In the glovebox.
Review by: Duston88 -
I worked delivering chemicals and I attribute a pair of Oakley straight jackets to saving my eye when a hose broke. But, the optical quality of Maui Jim is second to none and has sidelined my custom ordered Oakley's. I have these in the darkest tint possible and your not blind when you walk into a store but have plenty of darkness, for the brightest of days. A little to lightweight for a motorcycle ride but great for every day use in the sun. They prop up on the head very well too.

Great glasses
Review by: Longhorn -
When out fishing or doing other outdoor activities these are the greatest. I can now see well to tie fishing knots or read a book outside with no problems or expensive prescription glasses. The polarized lenses are great for cutting glare off the water and are very light and comfortable. Best glasses I have owned so far.

Newbie
Review by: Pdearest -
I am the proud owner, as of yesterday, of Ho'okipa Maui Jim Reader cool bronze shades. I bought them while basking at the Marriott pool in Maui. How appropriate! There was a kiosk at the beach towel p/u and "Johm" was so helpful and let me test drive a pair for 30 minutes on loan. The lady next to my chaise lounge had her 3rd pair and the cocktail server had a pair as well as the cafe server, as they work in the sun. It's a cult & they were all devotees. Not only could I read, but I could look out to the ocean and see the whales spoutng vividly and also see colorful Birds of Paradise & Hybiscus flowers nearby. My husband bought a pair when we first arrived here as he just had laser eye surgery a few weeks ago. He received the regular case and I was given the sport case with mine, which is fabulous to clip on your bag or or anywhere since it's so big. I love my Maui Jim's!

Great Readers!
Review by: EagleKaren1 -
My husband and I have these readers and will not go without. We both have other pairs of MJs but will use these when we are relaxing and reading when out by the pool, beach or park. The work wonderfully! We even use them at restaurants. I own 6 pairs of Maui Jim's and the dear hubby owns 3 pair. Love them and they were actually recommended by our Ophthamologist after Lasik eye surgery. Love the product!

Not to be worn while doing most activities
Review by: DNuggetsFan -
I had Lasik 2.5 years ago, up to that point only had a couple of prescription sunglasses. As a late Christmas present my wife took me to Sunglasses Hut while on vacation in Las Vegas and we bought a pair of Maui Jim Ho'okipa Reader Sunglasses. At the time I only had the free ones that they gave me when I got the Lasik done. I am a pretty active guy, golf, fishing and softball. As I have had them for 2 years, I feel like I can give a good long term review. The only time that I can wear the sunglasses while doing any outside activity is when I wear a stocking cap over me ears to hold the glasses in place, otherwise they fall off my head whenever I bend over. I have pulled them out of the dirt on the softball field after bending over to retrieve a grounder. I have pulled them out of the lake as I have bent over to pick up a fish that I had caught. I can not use them while golfing ecspecially when putting. Due to the numerous falling off my head events, they have received many distracting scratches and chip on the lenses. I have resorted to only using them only while I drive, which can be a bit distracting due to the polarizing when looking through the tinted car windows. They create crazy rainbows whenever the sun bounces off the windshields of oncoming cars.

Best sunglasses I've ever owned!!
Review by: KennyL -
I've worn Maui Jim sunglasses for years, but about 2 years ago I broke the pair I was wearing.. Long story short I put them in there case and forgot to send them in for repair. So I have been suffering with cheap sunglasses ever since. Recently on vacation I happened into a Sunglasses store and fell in love with Maui Jim's sunglasses again.. The Ho'okipa sunglasses are by far the best sunglasses I've ever owned.. Great optics, weight, and fit means I will never be without a pair of these quality sunglasses again.. Thanks Maui Jim for a great product!!
