I have more then a few sunglasses. I am not a collector, because I wear everything I own, but I do have a few. The ho'okipa's were my first pair of Maui Jim's and I haven't bought another brand since.

Now comes the honolua Bay. These are on a whole different level. They are so snug and comfortable on my face I never have to adjust them. That says a lot for someone like me who happens to have one of those noses everything slides down. I'm not sure but the olympic ski team may have at one time. Anyway these glasses are my favorite. There not even my most expensive pair in my collection. But they are my most comfortable.

I decided on the Maui Rose color. Now I felt I was taken a chance when I went with these. I usually like the darkest lens for bright days and that dark tint so you can't see my eyes. But this maui rose has got me reconsidering my color choices from now on. As a man I thought that maybe a red pair maybe too feminine but they are not. They look great. These are the only pair that I own where if I lost or broke them I wouldn't go for another style. I would just buy these exact same pair again.

The frames are so light and flexible. I feel they are going to last a long time. If you are thinking about these sunglasses give them a try. But be warned, these are not the type of sunglasses that you can decide on with one trip to a retailer. You MUST get these home and see how they fit into your lifestyle. A 10 - 20 minute demo/fitting of these does not do these justice. Experience them and discover the difference.

I stand a towering 5'2 with small, heart-shaped face to match. It's near impossible for me to find a pair of glasses that don't completely take over my face. I immediately fell in love with these. Much to my surprise, they also happen to fit my 6'7 husband and look amazing on him as well! They hug any face flawlessly and release virtually no pressure at all while holding tightly for any activity you might enjoy. Whoever you are, whatever you look like - feel confident in the purchase of these glasses. For looks or sport, you are sure to find exactly what you're looking for.

For $300 I expect a case that will not unravel and come apart after a short time. The semi-soft, zip-up case unraveled, stuck in the zipper and caused the whole case to be a throw away when the pull tab came off. It's not like you can put non-hinged glasses in any old case and Maui Jim does not give away replacement cases. Disappointing when you think you are buying quality. BTW, this is my third pair of MJ's and two of the three cass have come apart. It needs some work, guys!!!

You'll discover human beings driving at cars having a darkened front window e.g. of a bmw, :-)) When hiking at the shores of the isle of Sylt (Germany's finest island at the north) you'll see a really white flaring sun at a white beach. With these glasses you can see the girls too :-)) without twinkling all time. And watching the kite surfers or the "standard" wave riders(yes, there is the only beach in Germany, where you can go "riding" waves) is possible at all time. Very good even at the alps, where you have snow at summer and really hard sun exposition at 3000m mountain height.
But after one year of usage, the hardcover case gave up (hinge spring broken) which is very annoying.

I loved the style of these from the moment that I saw them in the sunglass shop. For any one whom likes and wears blue this will suit plus the blue Honolua Bay seems to blend better with blondes. Snug fit for medium faces these glasses stay on the face and the curved lenses filter out light around the edges. Durability - this model is prone to the nuts on the nose bridge breaking with light flexing. Twice I have had the bridge break in the last six months and never had issues with my other pair of Maui Jim sunglasses and other brands. However Maui Jim is excellent with warranty service. If I didn't like this style so much and their performance wasn't great I would have discarded by now. The grey lense is best suited to summer / strong light conditions.
