My first pair of quality sunglasses were Kahunas with Maui Rose lenses that were purchased 12 years ago. While I did my best to treat them right, they ended up surviving quite a few drops until they finally "disappeared" a couple of years ago.

Once I accepted that they were gone for good, I began looking for a replacement pair, only to find that the Maui Rose lenses were no longer available with the Kahuna.

I went through several cheap sunglasses until I was finally able to locate the Kahuna/Maui Rose in discontinued stock online. I was pleasantly surprised to find that as an added bonus, the new pair has the Superthin Glass, which my original pair didn't. Some may feel that they are too heavy, but to me, they are feather light!

I really hope that Maui Jim makes the Kahunas available in Maui Rose once again, as I will no doubt have to replace them at some point down the road.

Being without them for so long has helped me to appreciate the quality of Maui Jim sunglasses. Maui Jim has made a customer for life!

The very first thing I noticed after purchasing my Maui Jim's (Kahunas) was my ability to finally read the radio indicator and other LED lights in my car with polarized lenses; with other polarized lenses (like my Ray-Bans) this was not possible. The lens quality appears exceptionally better than any I had bought in the past; the difference was much greater than the subtle upgrade I had anticipated. Style claims these are for larger faces, either these are not quite as big as they claim, or I'm in big head denial. Heavier than my last pairs, but they feel as though they will withstand years of hard use. Plastic arm sleeve not exactly my style, and found one to be loose (not acceptable at this price). Although very expensive, but at my age I realize my eyes are worth it.
*Take one star off for price and loose arm which required going back to vendor for replacement.

I've owned these Kahuna sunglasses for over 2 yrs now. They have performed very well. The polarized lenses cut glare while on the beach, on a boat, or while driving. Constructed very well and durable. Also the lenses are large enough to block out the sun ray's from all angles. Best pair of sunglasses I have ever worn.

Maui Jims and a couple other high end brands were recommended to me by my uncle, who is an optometrist. I picked up the Kahunas and liked them right away but when I stepped outside I was stunned at how amazing everything looked. These are the best sunglasses I have ever owned. I had them about 8 years or so and finally let them go back to the shop for some repairs. I had a couple cracked lenses and the arm was getting loose. None of these issues were MJ's fault. They are from 8 years of heavy use. MJ has a great repair policy and I sent my beloved glasses into them to finally give them the attention they deserved. I just got them back today and I was actually stunned to see they didn't bother to repair them, they simply gave me a brand new pair. WOW! is what I kept saying. I am still shocked that they did that. I know this would not be an everyday, every case occurrence but I was floored that MJ did that. An amazing pair of sunglasses backed by a company that sure has the customer service part nailed down.

Well Done Maui Jim...I am a customer for life and I have sent a number of folks your way by word of mouth.

I still can't believe they replaced them... :-)

I just bought the Kahunas today. I am a devoted Oakley guy, but I felt like Harry Potter the minute these things touched my face.. Its like they picked me. I have never had a pair of sunglasses that felt so perfect. The Lenses look to be superior to my oakley polarized lenses and from the positive reviews I have no bad feelings going forward. I have a feeling that the 4 pairs of Oakleys are going to be gathering dust this summer...

I bought my Kahuna last week and I can already say that my light green eyes have never been so relaxed in the sun. The colours are unique and sharp. I also wear them even while driving in the rain. I tried and bought several known brands, but never felt so comfortable. I plan to buy a second light weight one for longer drives. Thank you Maui Jim for my new life in the sun !

Bought this model when it was only available with glass, instead of the usual plastic, lenses.

It does a nice job in screening out the glare but smudges very easily and will fit someone with a medium to large size face. Due to its weight, it's not meant to be worn except for general purpose wear like walking around everywhere and driving.

Also, because of the glass lenses, it's HEAVY!! This is the ONLY pair of glass-lense sunglasses that I still own but use primarily as a backup pair due to the weight! I've switched over to the other plastic lense models! For an older model, which is still being produced but with plastic lenses now, it holds up well.

Lastly, like other Maui Jim sunglasses, expect to pay MUCH for the sunglasses!!

From the first time I put these glasses on I knew I was a Maui Jim fan for life. My eyes are very sensitive to light and I purchased these glasses with the grey lenses. For the first time, my eyes are completely relaxed, whether I am in bright sun, or high glare conditions. The coverage is excellent for any conditions, and the fit ensures they stay right where they should be, no matter what I am doing. I have tried many brands of sunglasses in the past, and I will buy only Maui Jim products in the future. They are the best.

I recently bought a pair of Kahuna sunglasses fitted with prescription lenses. I choose these because I have a pair MJ Sport and find them very light and confortable. Unfortunately I find the Kahuna quite heavy and uncomfortable. I hope I will get used to them or I will have wasted a lot of money.
