Terrific frame but lense cracks easily

Kanaha 409-10 sunglasses. Bought these about 4 years ago and really love the comfortable, lightweight frame. The lense viewing quality is superb but the lenses crack easily. I have had two lense replacements due to cracks where the screws attach the lense to the frame - no rough treatment, just normal wear and tear from taking them on and off. If you buy these treat them tenderly.

Almost perfect sunglasses

I love my Kanaha 409-10s. I own a pair with the Tortoise Frame/HCL Bronze Lens...they are so lightweight, with the partial frame...sometimes I forget I'm even wearing them! They are like watching real life on an HDTV.
Only drawback is that they are prone to cracking where the screws mount the lenses to the frame. I've had two lens replacements in as many years. On the plus side, Maui Jim has replaced them on warranty without any hassle.
My recommendation is that you buy these sunglasses. To prevent cracking, take them on and off with both hands to prevent torsion and store them in their hard shell case whenever possible. DO NOT let this prevent you from purchasing and experiencing these sunglasses. I will never purchase another pair of the "O"-ther guy's shades now that I've owned a pair of these.(Posted on 11/28/12)

I purchased a pair almost two years ago and i noticed lately that both lenses are cracked at the screws . Very happy with them but keep them in their case, and when using them for driving there is a special clip available to put them on the sunvisor.

Try them on in a store if you can, after looking at most MJ's online my eventual choice came down to how they felt once I had them on, not necessarily the ones I had picked out from the website. The 409's (HCL bronze lenses) are the business: lightweight, great polarisation, quality all round. I use these whenever I go trout fishing and they out perform other glasses I have owned. Forget the other brands buy Maui Jim, like me, you won't be disappointed

Had them for 4 years. Noticed there was a crack near the screws 2 years ago, thought they were going to break and fall apart but never happened. I'm still wearing them daily, I recently went to Cuba with them and was being a bit rough with it but it stayed intact. Very happy with them! The best part, they are great for people with a smaller face.

OMG!!! I have had these sunglasses since 2003 and just now (2010) had to send them in for repair. Got them back in less than 2 weeks. I absolutely love these sunglasses. I use them for everything, from going to the beach, driving, shooting at the outdoor range to whatever else you can possibly do outside. Would recommend these or just about any MJ's out there. AWESOME!! Just wish I could afford a second pair for a backup! No flaws as far as I am concerned!!!
