Lenses

Neutral Grey: Perfect for especially bright, direct sunlight. Offers rich color and contrast along with the highest available light production, unlike ordinary grey lenses that flatten light evenly across the spectrum.

HCL® Bronze: For everyday variable conditions, from full sun to overcast. Provides excellent contrast. Great if you love a warm, subtle bronze tint.

Maui HT™: High-Transmission for times when most lenses would be too dark — sharper contrast and more vibrant color for early morning, late afternoon and foggy days. Heightens contrast and depth of field so that low light is perceived with new vibrancy.

PolarizedPlus®2: In every pair of Maui Jims you’ll find our patented, color-infused lens technology that wipes out 99.9% of glare, 100% of harmful UV and boosts color via specially designed lens treatments. So your view is clearer, with crisper contrast and amazing brilliance.

Polycarbonate: When durability and protection against shattering are the priority, choose a lens that stands up to your most intense activities. Scratch- and impact-resistant. Injection molded for crisp optics. With patented lens treatments that infuse your view with vivid color. Your lightest choice for long days in the sun.

CLEARSHELL® Scratch Coating: A proprietary, silicone-based hard coat that protects your lenses. Glass is naturally scratch-resistant but Maui Evolution and polycarbonate lenses perform better longer with the added durability of our optically correct Clearshell. Applied to front and back of the lens.

Maui Jims Absolutely The Best Sunglasses Ever Made
Review by: RazorHog

This is the 3rd pair of MJ I've purchased for myself - Never will my eyes gaze upon this world through any other brand!!! 1st pair was the MJ Sport and I lost a nose piece - customer service was OUTSTANDING! - replaced both nose and ear pieces for free - 2nd pair were the Banyans - awesome until I broken them in Nawlins before the sugar bowl. These new Lighthouse are the most comfortable of them all - cant even tell your wearing them -Wife has two pair of MJ and now wants a 3rd!!! Mahalo!!!

Awesome for Golf
Review by: Golfer101

When I first put on these sunglasses, I couldn't believe how everything popped. I normally wear the maui amber lense sunglasses for golf, but these green lenses are awesome. I didn't think they could be better than the amber, but they are superior. They are even better for driving. Highly recommended and extremely lightweight.

this is my first pair of Maui Jim sunglasses, and I love them. Very versatile, lightweight, look great, durable. I forget that I am even wearing sunglasses.

Cheap and Flimsy
Review by: MikeChicago

Under no circumstances buy these sun glasses or similar; the frames are cheap and they don't hold their shape.

Light as a feather
Review by: kristinmcd

I have never had Maui Jim's until my husband surprised me with a pair of Lighthouse for Christmas. I was very skeptical as I was a Ray-Ban loyalist. After putting them on, I have yet to wear my Ray-Ban since. They are so light and comfy and yet the lens makes everything clear and bright.

Highly recommend!

Lens appears to scratch relatively easily
Review by: Satsuma

I received a pair of these sunglasses with the MauiHT lens as a gift for Father's Day this weekend. I was excited, since I own a pair of Kapaluas that I love. The Kapaluas have the neutral-grey lens, so I found them a bit too dark for golfing. This Lighthouse style with MauiHT worked great while golfing, but I dropped them in the parking lot and the lens got scratched. I have dropped the Kapaluas a few times as well, but those lenses did not scratch so I was a bit disappointed with how easily these Lighthouse lenses were scratched.

Aside from the lens, the frames are fine. Lightweight and comfortable, but they tend to bounce a bit more on my face than the Kapaluas while golfing. Since these are still new, I am not sure how I will like the fit if the frames stretch out a bit. They are light enough that you could wear them all day.

The MauiHT lenses are not suitable for driving in bright light. While it did provide some contrast, and likely protected my eyes from UV rays and glare, it was still a bit too bright when driving. Not a function of the frames, but a limitation of the lens. These may be better for driving with the Bronze or Grey lens. Comfort is fine as well.

I will say that these cost less than the Kapaluas, so perhaps it isn't as well made. For light duty activities, these are probably fine, particularly if you aren't afraid of damage or loss like a day at the beach, or paddling. If you plan to use them for more rigorous activities, I recommend getting a leash or other device to prevent them from coming off your face.

Right now, I can't really recommend them because of how easily they scratched, but as I use them I will re-evaluate to determine if my overall assessment changes over time.

Amazingly Light, Would Buy Again
Review by: NewMJFan

These are my first pair of Maui Jim s. I am not gentle or as careful as I should be with sunglasses. I purchased these while on vacation to replace my beloved Ray Ban s of 3 years, that I foolishly set down where they were stepped on because they were slipping off while I was looking straight down replacing a floor.

At the shop where I purchased my wife s Ray Ban s on a previous vacation I was shown to their new line and the Lighthouse practically jumped out of the case, exactly the style I was looking for. When I tried them on I was amazed at how light they were and how no matter how I moved my head (even straight down) they would not move.

For me the only true downside is that these seem to show fingerprints and smudges more than my Ray Ban s (reason for 4 out of 5). I have gotten in the habit of cleaning them every time I put them on because if I don t I am just going to take them off to clean them anyway. I feel like I am constantly wiping smudges.

I have dropped them THREE times as of yesterday and now have a couple of pinpoint scratches that I can only see if holding them just at the right angle. Even with the amount of cleaning I do I did not see them until I looked for this review. A previous review mentioned that they scratched after one drop and that could be a difference between his MauiHT lens and Gray lens I have, or it could be just a bad luck drop.

Great sunglasses!
Review by: boxhdn

I'm a bit of a sunglasses freak and can't walk by a sunglass store without stopping. The way these things fit are great. I've been through 3 pairs of the lighthouse now, but they're the only ones I'll wear due to how comfortable they are. I dropped my first pair and accidently stepped on them, so they had really bad scratches on them. Don't drop them! I sent it to maui jim and they replaced the arms and lenses for $70. I forgot I was wearing them when surfing because they were so clear so they are somewhere out in the atlantic now. I bought the second pair of the lighthouse HT after losing the first pair, still have them, but realized they weren't quite dark enough on really sunny days. Now I have the gloss black/grey lens for sunny days. I've tried revos and raybans both, and neither compare with the comfortable fit of these. I found these on ebay for 109.00 so that helps with the price a little more.
