Functional & Cool
Review by: Ricardo16

I bought a pair of Makaha's while on the look out for something completely different and I'm so glad I did. The ability of these glasses to cut out glare is amazing. I live in England so you wouldn't think I have much use for them. However I have found that when we have heavy rain and the sun comes out quite often the glare on the wet road is too much for safe driving. Maui Jim's help with this problem effortlessly and makes driving in these conditions considerably safer.

Great glasses horrible polarization
Review by: jlharr1

These glasses are extremely comfortable and I like them, but I bought them for fly fishing, and frankly, the polarizaion is horrible for seeing into the water. I actually take of my Maui Jims and put on a pair of $20 walmart glasses when I go fishing and leave my maui jims sitting in the car. If I had not bought these glasses for fly fishing, I would rate them higher.

I LOVE MY JAUI JIMS!!!!
Review by: CandiGirl

I swear these are the best things on the planet! I bought my first pair over a year ago and I promise you will never catch me in another brand. I'm really tough on sunglasses and these things are just as tough as me. I couldn't believe how much better I can see in them - it's amazing! Way to go Maui Jim! You have earned another customer for life!! :)

Great Sunglasses
Review by: BAredneck

I am a NCAA baseball player and everyone else on the field is wearing Oakleys. However, I would never trade my MauiJims for any other brand. The clarity that they bring and crispness are unrivaled. Being on a baseball field can really beat up glasses but they have lasted for 2 years and still dont have a scratch.

Absolutely in Love!
Review by: IamMe

This is my first pair of Maui Jim sunglasses and it will be my last. I love this style because I wear them everywhere! The light and airy feel of this frame has allowed me to do all my favorite sports in the sunshine! While running my long distance routes, the sunglasses do not feel heavy. I wear these frames while biking and it does a great job protecting my eyes. I even wore these glasses while kayaking in the Caribbean sea and the saltwater spots cleaned right up...no issues. Highly recommend these glasses and so worth the investment!

If you get the right one, they are PERFECT!
Review by: nukeengirl

I've had this model of sunglasses for over 5 years now. My original pair got a nasty scratch in the center of one of the lenses, and since that was irritating to no end, I decided to buy a new pair. In my search I found several pairs of this model that were (what I would call) defective! On the edge of the lens, where the arm comes in, there is a little section of plastic that wraps to the front of the lens. On my original pair, that section sat flush with the lens. Only after buying the new pair did I realize that that isn't the case with all of them. The new pair had a gap big enough to slide your fingernail under. "So what's the big deal with that?" you say. Well if you have hair long enough to get into your eyes, your hair will get stuck under the gap and be in your face. You can't just brush it away because the gap acts like the tooth of a comb and unless your hair is tangle free ALL the time, this becomes an issue.

I searched through several sunglass huts to find one that wasn't like this and my search finally led me out of state where I found an acceptable pair.

It seems like such a minor thing, but on sunglasses this pricey, the minor things shouldn't be overlooked.

I can actually SEE what I've been missing!!!
Review by: shovelups

I was hesitant about spending the $$ for sunglasses, I always bought the $20 glasses. I was looking for a pair of really nice sunglasses and when I asked around so many people said, MAUI JIM. Honestly, I never even heard of maui jim until a month ago!! I was looking for a pair that was lightweight, styleish, & had great vision. The Makaha fit my criteria, perfectly!! Looking thru these glasses is like looking at the world in HD, seriously!! I forgot my Jim's one day and wore my old, cheap sunglasses driving....It was miserable, I actually had a headache after driving for 20 minutes. The lens/vison quality of my Makaha's is, bar none, the BEST. I have the bronze lens and love it. The rubber nose piece took me a couple days to get used to, but now I like. I had to remove the rubber earpieces, VERY uncomfortable, the gave me headaches. The price of these glasses was hard for me to swallow, at first, but having worn these glasses for a month now, they are worth it!! If you want to see the world with unmatched vision capabilities, Maui Jim is it!!! It took me a week or two to really appreciate the quality of my Jim's, YOU too will be impressed!!! I still can't believe how well I can see the world now.

Awesome
Review by: Andy

I got this pair of sunglasses in the summer of 2008. They were a gift from my company. I had a very expensive pair of Costa Del Mar sunglasses. I thought that those were the best that I had ever put on my face. Until these. I have the Tortis Frames with the Amber Lense. The clarity and quality are second to none. The light weight frames make them feel as if they are not even there. I now own 3 pair.

Great Glasses and Wonderful Customer Service!
Review by: Arthur

I bought my first pair of Maui Jims a few years ago and love them! I have taken them to the beach and into the surf and was never scared I was going to lose them. They are very light and very comfortable. I did lose my nose pieces awhile back but have actually been able to wear them without to much discomfort. I am about to buy my second pair and while researching I read some reviews about how great the customer service with MJ is so I decided to call and see how much nose replacements would be. Within two minutes of calling I had a new set of nose pieces in the mail for FREE. No hassel and no waiting on the phone. I have never had better service with anything. Based on this and the quality of the product I will stay a loyal costumer. I am still going to buy that second pair.

Makaha 405-10 Tortoise/Brown
Review by: Beachlover

The Makaha pair is my second pair of Maui Jim's. My first pair I bought in 2001 (a different model-I think is was Catamarran) and my toddler son broke an arm off. Needless to say, I cried. Then I found out I could send them in to Maui Jim for possible repair. Unfortunately, they were discontinued and could not be repaired or replaced. I cried again. However, the repair department offered to give me a new pair of Maui Jim's at a discounted price. So I tried the Makaha in tortoise/brown. I enjoy them very much. The lenses aren't as dark as I'd like them to be, but they get the job done very well and much better than anything else out there. I do hope that Maui Jim brings back the Catamarran or something very similar because I have never found their equal. What I love about the Makaha is that they are very light, don't give me headaches because of the weight and that they are beautiful in design and go very nice with my coloring (I am a fair-skinned, blonde.) They are easy to keep clean too. I do believe that there is no substitute for Maui Jim sunglasses. You either have Maui's or you just don't get it. Even my husband's eye doctor agreed that they are the best!
