Perfection
Review by: jdMaui

This is my 5th pair of MJs, and my favorite for all-around wear. I was torn between the Pilot and Black Rock, but the look and fit of the Pilot couldn't be beat. The most difficult decision was choosing the frame and lens color. I went with the silver, but you really can't go wrong with any combination. I recommend MJs to everyone, not only for their quality eyewear but for their impeccable customer service. While vacationing in Maui, my titanium sport lenses cracked and I dropped by the main office and had them repaired in less than 15 minutes. Once you buy a pair of MJs, you'll never buy any other brand.

LOVE THEM!
Review by: beachtime

I love these glasses. I have been looking for a long time for a pair of aviators! I do have a small face and head but they fit and feel great! They are light weight and very comfortable. My husband and I are Maui Jim lovers! We both own a couple pairs of Maui Jim's! Maui Jim is the only sunglasses we wear!!!!!

So Happy With My 1st Pair of Maui's
Review by: KAYAKER13

This is my 1st pair of Maui Jims and I couldn't be more pleased. I wear them all the time in all types of weather. They are very comfortable and block all of the glare. I wore the kayaking the other day and they were perfect for glare off of the water and the overcast. The few drops of salt water that got on the lenses wiped right off with no trouble. These were definately one of the best investments I have made and I can't wait to buy more.

Driving glasses
Review by: GoldTrader

I have worn Aviators for years. Aviators offer an unobstructed, undistorted view, and provide protection from the sun and other hazards, to a large part of the face. Vision and protection are the main reason I wear Aviators. Increased comfort and vision while driving, because of the polarized view. What attracted me to Maui Jim Pilot, Aviator, Navigator, State Trooper, type frames, is the semi-rimless lens. The stainless steel frame is recessed into the eyeglass rim, like no other Aviators that I have ever seen.

Maui Jim Pilots come with a single color polarized lens. They are typically used only outdoors and are ideal to wear on a sunlit beach or snow covered slope. They are too dark to use at night, inside, or anywhere that you have rapidity changing brightness conditions. Maui Jim makes a low light lens, as well as real dark. Only Maui Jims wearers are wealthy enough to use something that can only be worn only a few hours a day in bright sunlight. Maybe that is why so many people wear them?

Maui Jim polarized lens cut glare and haze when driving so that your eyes are more comfortable and you can see better. They can reduce glare, from long, flat surfaces like the hood of your car, or the road's surface. Boaters, skiers, bikers, golfers, and joggers all benefit from polarized sunglasses. Polarizing makes it impossible to see sheet ice on the road, but what would they know about that on Maui. Pilots look great, feel great, and in general get the job done.

Although the name Pilots implies use in planes, polorized lenses cannot be used in airplanes with thick laminated windshields, it masks the reflections coming off other air traffic, making it harder to spot other airplanes.

Maui Jim does not offer transitional lens. Not just on this pair but on any pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. Like any true outdoor only sunglass lens, Maui Jim, even in prescription Rx, stay dark all of the time.

The Pilot is an excellent driving accessory. In driving it is important to get maximum protection from blinding glare, and only polarized lenses can do this.

The thing with prescription frames is that they are generally rectangle and flat. Where a good set of designer glasses like all things in nature, are all curves, and wrap arounds. The Pilot nose pad brackets are an improvement on the traditional Aviators nose pads. The open nose pad brackets are easy to keep clean, and adjusted.

Maui Jim makes glasses that fit average size faces, only worn the way they want you to wear them. If like many of the baby boomers you like to wear your glasses further away from your eyes, out on your nose, you may find the skull temple guides too short. Maui Jim does not make longer temples, or customize sunglass frames for better fit.

The Pilots are a stylish improvement on the age-old Aviator sunglasses. Anyone who has used Aviators, will appreciate the improved nose pad hangers and superior optics provide by this Rx-able Pilot frame.

Great for flying!
Review by: FlyGuy

I purchased these for flying and have found them to be exceptionally comfortable under headsets for extended periods of time. The optics are beautiful as you'd expect from Maui Jims. I particularly like the rubberized nose pads which keep the glasses from sliding forward on the nose. I don't usually take the time to write reviews but was very impressed with these quality sunglasses.

Never heard of them but now i know!
Review by: Ibby

I was at the airport and wanted to treat myself to a luxury brand i knew of. I tried on all the traditional brands but they didnt feel right. When i put the MJ on it felt right and looked great. As soon as i use them in sunlight it feels like im on Holiday even though im just in my hometown, the colour enhancement is great! Definitly a great investment and glad a took a gamble on brand i had never heard of and now i know them very well. PS you need to up your marketing, if your intrested let me know :)

Excellent shades and even better customer service!
Review by: pags69

Received as an xmas gift from my gf, and couldn't be happier! Great lenses and great construction. Much much much better quality than any other pair of sunglasses I've had, including some that were pricier.

I had a small incident in which I bent the frame AND forgot to clean them after being in a pool (a note to all maui jim owners... make sure you clean and model of glasses after you've been in a pool or the ocean... the chemicals and salt will ruin your polarized lenses if left on too long). I sent them to repairs fully expecting to be told that the damages were my fault (which they were), however they very nicely sent me a replacement pair free of charge, since it took longer than usual for them to get to my repairs (summers are busy for them, apparently). Just can't say enough great things about the glasses and the customer service! Thanks, Maui Jim!

Great for flying
Review by: Ericbaum

Many people says that polarized sunglasses are not suited for flying an airplane with glass cockpit without issues ... that's maybe true but I don't have noted any problem with quality EFIS and the details of the ground and other airplanes in the sky are very sharp with those sunglasses. I assume they are perfect for flying in light sport aircrafts even with glass cockpits. I think you may have issues with cheap and bad quality polarized sunglasses; that's not the case with Maui Jim Pilot !!!

Great lenses but frames need work
Review by: Glasses

I purchased these lenses because of the exquisite lenses. They truly are the best I've ever used. Unfortunately on three separate occasions a lens has popped from the frame, hit the ground and chipped. Everything is covered under warranty except the lenses. These turned out to cost more than I bargained for.
