These Sunglasses are very stylish and light.. This is my second pair of MJ's and with the rimless glasses they tend to crack where the screws are, within 3 months of ownership they had already cracked as well as the laminate had started to peel. If you purchase these glasses also ask for an extra nose piece and ear slides.. as they both tend to come off and get lost. I would just think the price you pay for Maui Jims, they could find a way to overcome this flaws in their design, otherwise I do think they are pretty good Sunglasses in vision and clarity.

These are far and away the best glasses I have ever owned. The one piece lens allows me to see the golf ball through my entire swing. On the jet ski the glasses keep the wind from drying out my eyes unlike most other glasses that actually channel the wind into my eyes. While driving they are light and comfortable. My son recently sat on them and I was (like my glasses) crushed! I sent them back to Maui Jim where they were quickly repaired! They aren't cheap glasses but they make life so much more enjoyable for me!

Pros: lightweight/comfortable, quality construction, quality optics, good looking/fashionable, customer service.
Cons: Lenses could be darker, price, smear easily (read review).

These Sandbars with grey lenses were purchased to replace my pair of Gargoyles (ala Arnold in Terminator) as my beach/running/rugged pair of shades. You can read my Pros and Cons, so I will only elaborate on some of the aspects.

First of all, MJ's customer service is top notch and the product construction is tops. Although you can almost forget you are wearing the Sandbars (lightweight), I find myself squinting more than my other pairs of sunglasses (incl. Serengeti Drivers). I agree they cut glare considerably providing a unique view but that does not offset my need to squint. I will be unable to replace my Gargoyles at the beach because of this. The other aspect that could be improved is that these fit close to the eyes and the oil on my eyelashes tends to smear the inside of the lenses. My Gargoyles compensate for this tendency by angling the nosepiece, thus moving the lenses slightly away from the face. My Serengeti drivers can get heavy and tight on long trips and these Sandbars will help me out with such long trip relief.

In conclusion, I believe Maui Jim puts out a quality product and backs it with excellent customer support but you do pay for it. If could just be my preferences, but I believe better value exists out there. However, people who have not explored several quality sunglasses offerings will be quite happy with Maui Jim's quality products.

I have owned Maui Jim sunglasses since I got sunburned eyes from sailing over 13 years ago. There is no better sun protection, I love these glasses for being stylish and lightweight. The only thing I wish they had was this product with darker lenses. i really mean this product wirh the gold frame because the are so pretty on. But I don"t buy any other sunglasses because I have very light eyes and these are the best protection.

Bought these reacently in an asian country, just a little cheaper.
But since there are no helmet laws other than on certain free-ways I wore them almost always. How ever they create some kind of backdraft on my face and do not keep my eyes free from tiny bugs!

After not investing much in my shades lately I purchased a pair of the Sandbars and have loved every minute I am wearing them. They are comfortable enought to forget you have them on, yet just substantial enough to feel protected behind them and know that they can take some abuse. The wrap around coverage is great for me, as I have sensitive eyes.

I have owned Maui Jims for the past 10 yrs. Best glasses I have ever bought! They are expensive though! I have 2 pairs of the sandbars and just bought another pair for my son as we spend a ton of time fishing Largemouth bass in the summer. My vision in the water is awesome, (cut down on the glare) specially when we sight fish. However I where them everywhere. The only problem is they sit so close to my face that the oil from sunscreen and my skin puts a film on the lens that is hard to get clean.
I recommend these to everyone, comfort is like they are not even there!!
You wont be disappointed!!!

I have the gold trim ones and I just love them
they were the best birthday present ever and if anything ever goes wrong or falls off they will stand behind them and send you parts or replace them love them to snow ski with them and in summer they are great they are my favorite

I love this pair of Maui Jims. I've had them over a year. I've bought 3 or 4 pairs of Maui Jims. Their customer service is excellent. I've dropped these many, many times, sat on them, etc., and they have never scratched. I have 2 small kids. Life is hectic. But my vision is always clear with these great polycarbonate lenses. I have an aversion to bright sunlight and live in Florida. Without these, I can't survive.
