Founded by Tim Dougherty in the year 2000, Outrigger Team California, was built to be the most competitive masters team possible. Members were hand-picked from some of the best waterman in Southern California. They compete in the Southern California Outrigger Racing Association (SCORA) events, as well as the major international events. The team has experienced a tremendous amount of success with winning eight consecutive masters US Outrigger Championships, two Canadian National Championships, two Liberty World Cup Championships, placed 2nd three times at the World Championships.

Leslie is the reigning Olympic individual gold medalist and team silver medalist. Throughout his career Leslie has been known for his consistency, and he has a string of successes including a team silver in Sydney 2000, European team Championships, he led his team to a gold finish, and he placed fourth individually. Maui Jim began sponsoring Leslie in 2007, and it has been a successful partnership. At the 2007 Badminton Horse Trials in the UK, Leslie was present at the Maui Jim booth and offered spectators the uniquoe opportunity to meet him and receive an autograph. Leslie will also be signing limited edition photo cards and greeting fanx and fellow competitors at the 2008 Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event.
