Proper Care for Your Sunglasses
As with any quality product, proper care will enhance and prolong the usefulness of your sunglasses and protect your investment. Your sunglasses are coated on the backside of the lens with an anti-reflective (A/R) coating which is essential in eliminating glare and is one of the three elements that make up our patented design.
For optimum performance, rinse your sunglasses daily in warm water. Use a mild liquid dish soap to wash each lens surface if necessary. Dry using a clean, soft, absorbent cloth. Do not use paper-based products to clean your lenses. Do not use abrasive cleaners, soaps or detergents that may leave a deposit on the lens. Do not use tissues with added lotions, lanolin, silicone or other cleaners; they will leave a film on the lens.
The multiple coatings on your lenses are resistant to light scratching, however heavy, abusive scratching can break through the coatings and cause visible marks. Significantly help prolong the life of your lenses by removing dirt and other particles with good cleaning practices and keep your sunglasses in their case while not in use. Good cleaning practices will also help minimize scratching.
To reduce the chances of dropping your sunglasses on surfaces that may scratch your lenses, you might consider investing in a pair of sunglass retainer cords to keep them secure while wearing them.
Clean cloths are a great way to keep your sunglasses clean and smudge free. We recommend you frequently launder your clean cloth to keep if free of debris, dirt and oils that could damage your lenses. Wash in warm soapy water. Do not use fabric softener as this may leave a film on your lenses.
All new sunglasses purchased from Maui Jim include one cleaning cloth and a protective case, but if either of yours are lost or damaged, you can purchase replacements here.
Excessive heat may deteriorate your lenses or misshape your nylon frame. Avoid placing your sunglasses where you might expect excessive heat, for example, on the dashboard of your car.
L'acqua dura contiene livelli elevati di minerali disciolti, in particolare calcio e magnesio. È ammorbidita con l'aggiunta di sodio durante il processo di filtraggio. Tra gli esempio più comuni ricordiamo l'acqua della piscina e l'acqua non filtrata, come quella degli irrigatori. L'acqua dura può essere nociva per gli occhiali da sole, in quanto lascia macchie bianche sulle lenti una volta asciugate. Per evitarle, risciacquate semplicemente gli occhiali da sole o da vista con acqua filtrata (del rubinetto) e asciugate con un panno pulito.
Alcune sostanze chimiche di uso comune reagiscono negativamente con il materiale della montatura e gli ossidi di metallo utilizzati sui rivestimenti delle lenti. Evitate il contatto con acetone (prodotto per rimuovere lo smalto dalle unghie), soluzioni caustiche (detergenti per vetri o altri prodotti a base di ammoniaca), spray per capelli contenenti metilene (indicato sull'etichetta), cloro (di piscine o acqua non filtrata) o colla.
Tutti gli occhiali Maui Jim sono protetti da corrosione e acqua salata. Come per l'acqua dura, si consiglia di risciacquare gli occhiali da sole con acqua filtrata (del rubinetto) e asciugarli con un panno pulito.
Raccomandiamo di recarvi periodicamente dal rivenditore di fiducia che si occuperà di serrare le viti del ferma-lenti, le astine fissate e il ponte.
