How to Measure Your Pupillary Distance (PD)

What is a PD?

Pupillary Distance (PD) is the space between your pupils. Your PD is measured as you are looking straight ahead. Having an accurate PD helps to ensure the prescription in your glasses is perfect and you are getting the clearest vision possible.

Just as each person has a unique fingerprint, everyone also has a different PD. Measuring your pupillary distance is an important part of the prescription process.

Helpful Tips

1. If you are using a mirror to measure, try to look into the distance as you measure.

2. If someone else is measuring, try to look past them into the distance.

Looking into the distance will help to avoid the measurement being too narrow. Most adults have a PD that measures between 54-74 mm.
